The Museums at the Crossroads Consortium represents eleven diverse museums in Champaign County! Through this Passport Program, you're encouraged to discover new museums and make return visits to old friends, because, as we say . . . . there is an “adventure in every direction!”
Participating museums include:
Graphite pencil drawings and digital photography will form the One View of Nature exhibit. Close-up observations of nature including plants, insects and found objects in and about our local area are the subject of the works by Sally Bliss Nolan. In this exhibit, the drawings are renderings of dent corn, leaves and twigs, animal skulls and other found objects. Many of the photographic subjects detail plants, insects and skyscapes. See Nolan's work free of charge at the Anita Purves Nature Center, 1505 N. Broadway, Urbana.
For all participants—rich or poor, young or old— Carnival provides the opportunity to play by leaving the everyday world, becoming someone else, and behaving in unusual ways. Through artifacts, interactive opportunities, and dazzling photographs, this exhibition provides information on the origins and evolution of this celebration, as well as windows into eight communities in Europe and the Americas where Carnival is a high point of the yearly cycle. This exhibition has been made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Join us for a breathtaking tour of our own planetary system, including some of the latest discoveries. See how our solar system may have formed and then visit planets in other star systems far beyond our own. The show originally written and distributed by the Southeastern Planetarium Association and is narrated by Kate Mulgrew of “Star Trek: Voyager” fame. Be sure to see this fulldome conversion of a very visual show!
Curated by University of Illinois Chemistry Professors Gregory S. Girolami and Vera V. Mainz, this exhibition explores the development of crystallography from its beginnings in ancient Greece to its modern role as a key scientific technique. Crystallography and our understanding of the nature of matter was revolutionized by the discovery of X-ray diffraction. X-ray crystallography was key to discovering the double helix structure of DNA in the early 1950s. The exhibition displays texts that span 500 years of scientific inquiry into the nature of crystalline structures.
Held every Wednesday through Saturday through June 23.
Parkland College Graphic Design Student Juried Exhibition 2012

Winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. AVENUE Q is a laugh- out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

The summer time in CU means great deals to be had in Campustown all summer long. 13 Thursdays starts next Thursday May 24th and offers incredible discounts from participating merchants every Thursday from May to August. This is a great chance to rediscover the wonderful and unique restaurants, bars and shops. With students away, the pace slows down a bit making it the perfect time for new visitors to try it out. Parking in Campustown is incredibly easy (contrary to popular belief!).
